Hi Friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was nice and busy. I’m pretty sure that’s they way it will be for the rest of the summer. Gotta pack as much in these nice weekends as possible!
Friday nights are softball nights. Jeremy plays while Avery and I cheer. We’re pretty good at it. And it’s nice when someone brings the beers.
Avery made some new friends. We don’t get to see this girl very much. She lives in Illinois. Which is dumb. But she’s home for most of the summer. Yay!
Saturday night our friends had a backyard party. That’s right, summer has finally arrived in Minnesota! Mosquitoes and all! I’ll take it!
It was really nice to see some friends, drink some beers, eat some food. A lovely evening. And Avery was being her charming little self. Cheering on people when they played badminton. Clapping is the best. Then using the racquet (is it still called that for badminton?) as a guitar. She likes rocking out.
Sunday was the busy day. Father’s Day! I really wanted to make it special for Jeremy. He does so much for us, it’s sick. And as much as I try to show my appreciation on a daily basis, sometimes I fail.
We started the day with the Gridiron Gallop 5k at Lake Nokomis. The 5k is put together by one of the Minnesota Vikings players, so there were a lot of Vikings there. See how it was a good idea? Jeremy was like a little kid. “Look it’s so and so.” “That’s this guy.” I have no idea who he was saying, but judging by his excitement, they must have been important. Can you tell I’m not a football girl?
This 5k went much better then the time I had a police escort. Like, a million times better! First of all, I love Lake Nokomis. I have a hard time deciding which is my favorite lake in Minneapolis (#MNproblems) but Nokomis is up there. It was a gorgeous day. Sunny and warm. Perfection. And I only wanted to quit once. Plus, I totally didn’t come in last this time. Improvement. I felt pretty great after finishing.
We went to Perkins for some pancakes after the race. Yum. Then we went to visit my Dad. Then it was off to dinner at Wasabi with Jeremy’s sister and Dad. Always delicious. I love holidays and not cooking/eating at home.
I hope you all had a great weekend!
