You guys! My favorite holiday is here! Or was here. We’re still celebrating the long weekend. But we have done so much fun stuff and I have taken a hundred pictures. So gosh darn it, I’m writing a post!
Wednesday evening Jeremy and I did our July 5k. The Hot Dam 5k was a part of the Red, White, and Boom festivities going on for the 4th. And it was an evening run. I’m loving those more and more. This race was in Minneapolis and was an awesome course. So much of the pretty city sights. There were no mile markers for this race. I’m still undecided if that’s a good thing for me, or not. I was feeling good for most of the run. I say “run” but I mean “brisk walk.” Good over the Stone Arch Bridge. Good through the trails. Good over this other bridge. Good over our third bridge. A wooden one. Pretty. Then…BAM. Gravel path. Okay. We can do this. I have Avery in our top of the line jogger and it was made to off-road. It was tougher, but we were doing it. Then we went through a few spots with deep sand. We didn’t do so good through that part. My arms wanted to fall off. Lame. But then we came to some railroad tracks and heard lots of people. The end was near!
Overall, it was a good race. I finished at a personal best time. And did my first 5k where you get a beer at the end. Win!
Thursday was July 4th, aka my favorite holiday! In the morning we did our traditional breakfast at Jensen’s Cafe to celebrate Kirsten’s birthday. Which I failed to take any photos.
Then we went over to my parent’s house to hang out and do some grilling. The kiddos had some fun in the sprinkler.
My niece Erin and I made a fun patriotic dessert for everyone.
We all headed out to watch some fireworks. Avery and Sam did so well. They were a little energetic and wouldn’t sit still, but no tears or screaming at the loud noises.
No pictures of the fireworks. I was too busy baby wrangling. : )
Friday the family went to Cascade Bay. Oh man, we had so much fun! Avery is definitely part fish. She hated when we got out of the water for breaks. And crawled her little butt back in the water as soon as she could.
We all took a long, much-needed nap when we got home. All the sun and fresh air is tiring.
We have a busy rest of the weekend. Hopefully we will find some time to relax too!
