Sunday September 29th we took Avery to her first Twins game! I was so excited. I love love love me some baseball. Even when my team doesn’t do so well. I still root for them! I love going to games! We decided not to take her last year because we figured it was going to be too much of a hassle. But now that she is almost 18 months old, we figured she could handle it.
I had to snap this picture of Jeremy and Avery. The shirt Avery is wearing was Jeremy’s shirt as a kid. Two generations in the same shirt! Love it. I didn’t expect it to fit her this year. But she is a speedy grower.
Sundays are kids days at Target Field. The day we went there was a poster giveaway. Avery loved using hers as a weapon.
And we ran into my good friend from junior/high school. It was so nice to see her! And she was kind enough to take a family picture of us.
Note about the above picture: we tried to take a picture with the field in the background. But it was way too sunny. And the only cool thing around to take a picture in front of was the bar. Oh well. I still love this picture!
Avery was a rockstar. She was so well behaved. I think it helps that it was a totally new setting for her. And the weather was awesome. Just a perfect day.
We came prepared, too. We brought Avery’s little backpack. We packed some of her crayons and a small pad of paper. And her bunny. And we also sat in the family section. Which was great because there were a ton of kids and their parents trying to control them! So if Avery got fussy or anything we didn’t have to feel bad, because nobody was really paying any attention to the game. Perfect! Plus the Twins were playing like crap.
It was nice letting her have her own seat. She loved it and mostly stayed put. At one point right before the 7th inning stretch, she fell asleep leaning against me.
And she didn’t wake up for the rest of the game. Which was kind of a bummer. We wanted to take her down on the field after the game to run the basses. How many cool pictures do you think I could have taken?? Something for next summer… I also had to carry her 30+ lbs of dead weight back to the car. My workout for the day, for sure.
All in all, it was the perfect way to end the summer.
