What. A. Weekend.
Friday my “cousin” got married. [Definition of "cousin" here on out: child of my mom's bff. We grew up together as cousins. Same idea for "Aunt" and "Uncle" Got it? Good!]
Here’s the deal. I was chasing Avery all over the place. So I think I got 4 pictures. Total. I’m disappointed in myself. But I will try to paint you a verbal picture. My cousin Shannon married her best friend, Amber, on Friday [Friday weddings are the best, FYI]. I can’t remember the last wedding I have been to that everyone in attendance was joyful. Seriously. You could feel how happy everyone was. My aunt put it best when she said, “I knew the first time I met Amber, that she would marry my daughter. I just didn’t know how or when. And the fact that you all are here to celebrate with us, is cake.” Something like that. So many happy tears.
You guys. I just love love!
I wish I had a picture of Amber’s dress. It was so cute. A little longer than tea length and lovely lace at the top. Her dress is what I had thought my dress was going to look like. Until I found my actual dress.
The wedding had a retro feel and the reception was at Elsie’s in Northeast. They have a really nice space off the bowling alley for receptions. It was a very fun night. Until Avery got stir crazy and we had to go home earlier then I wanted. Oh well.
Here are the pictures I was able to get:Friday night my insomnia hit hard. And then when I finally was tired, some little girl [who needs to sleep in her own bed] was snoring in my face. A little before 3 am I gave up and went to the couch to get a “nap” in before I had to get up at 6. Oy.
I was up bright and early Saturday morning because I was going to Bloggy Boot Camp! And it was just as exhausting as it sounds!! Even with all the coffee I had. I stopped counting after my 4th cup.
I had so much information overload. In a really good way. But it was intense. I got to hang out with two of my favorite girls, I met two of my favorite bloggers for the first time, and I made a bunch of new friends! I am slowly making my way to everyone’s blogs and twitters and all that stuff. So if I haven’t connected with you yet, I will! Like, I said. My brain is still fried!
I do have a couple funny stories for you. We had table assignments through the day, so we could meet/interact with multiple people. We switched after every speaker. During one of those switches, we were introducing ourselves. My friend Jenn came over, we were at the same table! Along with 4 other Jen’s and a couple other girls with J names. We figured this had to be on purpose! And a little later, the organizer was like, “Table 2 did you notice anything? All the Jens! I have always wanted to make a table full of Jens. So thank you to all the Minneapolis area mothers in the 70s and 80s for picking the same name!” It was pretty funny. As a Jen/Jenny/Jennifer I am very used to this. Multiple Jens in one place.
At lunch, one of the women at my table was going around asking everyone what kind of blog they have. When she got to me she said something like, “Look at you in your cute top and scarf. I’m betting you are a fashion blogger.” I nearly choked on my water! I didn’t want to laugh in her face, but really? I told her she was really sweet to think that. And that I had been
begging politely asking for help with an outfit for the day on Instagram. And I am fashionable in the sense that I can get myself dressed. Most days.
I got back home around 7:30 completely exhausted. Foggy head, sore feet. And since I have the best husband in the entire world, he let me go to bed before 9. And I slept hard. It was amazing.
Sunday I was more than happy to take it easy. I took Avery to my parents house so Jeremy could watch football in peace.
And that was my weekend! Whew!
I didn’t really mean for this to become a novel. But I could have kept going!
Hope you had a great weekend, friends!
