We wanted to do something fun to tell our families about baby 2. And since I was all about positivity and knew everything was going to turn out fine, we told everyone early (late October). And we wanted to tell Jeremy’s Dad, in person, before he left for Arizona.
We went to the MOA to the Carter’s store because I saw some cute Big Sister shirts when I looked online. When we got there the lady at the store informed us that the store just switched over to only carrying baby sizes. Of course they did. So we went to about 10 stores and found a really cute shirt at BabyGap. And it was on sale. Win!
So the plan was: go to Jeremy’s Dad’s house for dinner (his sister was going to be there too!) and just take off her coat and wait until someone saw the Big Sister on it! So easy. Yeah…
Nobody noticed. For hours. Even when his sister got there. I thought for sure she would notice! Nope.
So we went to plan B. Jeremy says to his sister, “Oh we forgot to ask you something about your wedding…” She looks a little wary. “We are going to need to bring an extra person. Sorry.” And she yelled, “You’re pregnant?!?!” So that worked. And we told them to look at Avery’s shirt. “Has she been wearing that the whole time?” Uh, yeah. So observant, you guys.
The next day we went over to my parent’s house. And conveniently, everyone was supposed to be there that night. Even my sister who doesn’t live at home anymore. It was meant to be.
I didn’t think we would have a repeat of the night before. Between my mom and my sister, someone always comments on Avery’s “cute outfit.” But just to be sure, I told Avery to go over to Gaga (my mom) so she can take her coat off.
That did it. My mom was like, “What does this mean? Is this for real?” 2.5 seconds.
Everyone is excited! Yay! Every time I see my niece now, she asks if I know if it’s a boy or girl. She doesn’t get that we have to wait to find out.
A couple of days after that, I mew up with the besties for my birthday brunch. While we were waiting for our table I told them that we got Avery this really cute new shirt. And I showed them this picture:
And they were excited as well. As was the random lady behind us. 🙂
We got a lot of good use out of this shirt already!
