Toddlers are a fickle bunch. One minute Avery is obsessed with playing with her Mega Blocks. Then she can’t get enough of her little doodle pad…until she sees her guitar. And so on and so forth.
The only constants so far have been her pink bear (Side note: I just bought the last 2 off Amazon knowing one say she will leave it somewhere and lose her ish. Don’t tell me I don’t plan a head!) and books. Any book.
She also loves her PBS shows. Yes, I let my 22 month old watch tv. Gasp! The horror! Someday I will write a post on how much she has learned watching Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Sesame Street. Just for starters. Because, for real, some of these shows are great teaching tools. But that’s for another day.
Today I am here to share about her newest, most intense obsession to date: Jimmy Fallon.
I totally get it. He’s funny and good-looking. I love him, too.
It started about a month ago. Jeremy and I would watch Late Night the next day on HuluPlus. And Avery would hear the opening song and come into the living room. Soon she would be yelling “Jimmy show!” as she came in. I know, not educational at all, but she loves him.
Then, last week with the break between the transition to the Tonight Show, it became a full on obsession. She started waking up every morning and asking for “Jimmy show” before she would ask for her waffle. You know how NBC has been airing promos every 10 minutes for the show (not to mention that Xfinity commercial)? Yeah, she cries every time it’s over. Every. Time. I’ve been doing two a day viewings of the Tonight Show this week. Once with Avery and once when Jeremy gets home.
I’m just wondering how long this latest obsession is going to last. Because we’ve created a monster.
