I have a fun guest post today for you! I am a part of a Minnesota Bloggers group on Facebook. Some of us decided to swap guest posts. Amber and I got matched up together. Which was fate. The week prior to partnering up, I threw out all my make up. Everything except for my Bert’s Bees tinted chap stick. My new friend, Amber, is an esthetician/make up lover. She is the perfect person to help me rebuild my collection. Feel free to leave me any other recommendations in the comments!
Well hello awesome readers of Wonderfully Unkempt – I am so excited to “meet” you all! Jen and I agreed to swap blog posts for each other’s sites this week, so I’m here to share some of my favorite can’t live without makeup products. What makes me the expert? Well…Expert might be a titch of a stretch, but I’ve been a working makeup artist for almost 16 years, a licensed esthetician for a year and a half, and I’m overall just kind of a makeup junkie.
So here’s my faves…I’m giving you my higher end version, and a lower end version…use what your budget allows. I’m not asking anyone to go broke to revamp their makeup look.
TooFaced (any palettes, but the Natural eye is SO easy to use, and you can create a gazillion looks from one palette) or L’oreal Infallible. The L’oreal shadows are great strong pigment for an awesome price.
Urban Decay 24/7 or Rimmel Exaggerate. Both super smooth long wearing liners that you can make a thin, thick, or smudged line with.
If you’re going to wear shadow, you should wear primer. Simple as that.
TooFaced Lemon Drop or E.L.F. Eyelid Primer
MAC Studio Finish or Hard Candy Glamoflage
I just picked up Glamoflage a few weeks ago on a whim, and I’m super impressed with the coverage. Seriously….$6? And MAC is a classic, I’ve been using it since I was 18 years old.
Since my favorite seems to be discontinued (TEARS….I’m not joking , that stuff was amazing) I’ll give you the names of the two I’ve been using lately
IT Cosmetics 5in1 and Maybelline Rocket Volum
OHHHHH the choices!!! I have so many lip products it’s ridiculous. Some favorites are Rimmel Lasting Finish, MAC and Red Apple Lipstick. Rimmel lasts forever, nice even coverage and lots of pigment. MAC is well-known in the industry for crazy fun colors, a huge selection, and beautiful coverage. Red Apple is a newer brand, and you do have to order online still…but they are vegan, gluten-free, and all around fantastic. I love their colors, finishes, and moisture level.
Chanel or E.L.F. I use both frequently. One cost $50+ the other is $1. Use your best judgment on how important this is to you.
Where to buy:
TooFaced, Urban Decay, and IT Cosmetics can be found at ULTA
E.L.F. at Target
Hard Candy at Walmart
MAC at Nordstrom, MAC Stores, and Macys
Maybelline and L’oreal are just about anywhere
Red Apple Lipstick at http://www.redapplelipstick.com/
Chanel at high end department stores
It’s been a pleasure sharing some of my favorites with you. I’d love to hear your thoughts, if you’ve tried any of these, or if you have your own favorites!
