But I can’t! I feel like we were really spoiled a few days this past week. I made Jeremy shovel off the deck so all the ice would melt off. And he is a good husband, and did. With only minimal complaining!
And it got to 50* one day! It was magical. Truly magical.
And then everything just got cold again. Really cold. And windy. Ugh.
We were signed up to do our first 5k of the year on Saturday. The first ever Everybody’s Irish 5k. I was pretty excited because I had gone to the gym a few times this week and had been steadily increasing my distances. I was feeling confident that I could walk the whole thing with minimal pains. This baby has not made working out easy. Or fun. But we were making progress.
Saturday morning rolls around and it’s 20* and windy. So it feels like winter is bitch slapping you. Plus all the glorious melting from earlier in the week has become dangerous icy patches. Fuuuuuunnnnn.
Avery had a screamfest before it started because the layers and layers of clothing and blankets we put on her weren’t cutting it. And I can’t blame her. So she and I went back to the car and watched cartoons and Jimmy Fallon on my phone while Jeremy ran the race. I was really disappointed that I didn’t get to do the 5k, but I was really glad to have been in the warm car.
I was really craving a cheeseburger for dinner, so that night we went to the Lion’s Tap. How is it possible that I’ve never been there before?? It is a no fuss place with delicious food. Like seriously good. Plus 1919 Root Beer. 1919 is my love language. Needless to say, we will be going back.
Sunday was a big day around here. We have finally found “our church” and this week was Jeremy’s first time playing with the worship team. I think he gets twitchy when he isn’t able to play music for long periods of time. I think he has missed playing [more than he’s let on] since he quit his band last year. Not only was this his first week playing with the worship team, but he sang lead on one of the songs, too! Double proud moment for me. He did awesome, like always.
After church, we went out to Tavern of France for brunch with a group of friends. And I had way too much food. How can you turn down a pancake bar? Especially when there are chocolate chips involved? You can’t. Plus the hash browns will be in my dreams for days. I may or may not have had a plateful of those.
This coming week is filling up fast. But nothing on the weekend yet. Which will be nice.
Thinking warm weather thoughts!
