I don’t know what it is, but I’m a sucker for New Years. I love the feel of a clean slate. Fresh beginnings. The failures and negativity from the year prior, GONE.
I definitely made the most of 2015. And I can’t wait to make the most of 2016.
My word I chose to live by this year is FOCUS.
I can incorporate focus into almost every area of my life. Which is awesome. A few main ones I want to hit are: focus on me, focus on family, and focus on blogging.
After going through the year trying to manage my anxiety, I’ve realized how important self-care really is. I think I’m not alone here saying that I struggle to make time for myself. Everything and everyone comes first. And I’ve been mostly happy to push myself aside. But I have to STOP being okay with it. I need to make myself a priority.
My goal is to make it to yoga at least once each week. I love going to class and I love how I feel afterwards. Something to help my mind and body at the same time? A must do.
I’ve never been big on losing weight resolutions. It’s sure failure. But I’ve noticed my clothes being a little snug lately. So I need to make a focused effort on getting to they gym. For yoga, to take a swim, to walk the track, just get active! I’m also incorporating more water in my daily life. It’s only a few days in, but I’m getting a lot more into my diet than I have been!
I also just want to do more things I enjoy! I just downloaded an app to help me re-learn French! It’s like a fun game now. I want to keep the “fearless” streak alive this year, too. I want to try new things. I want to make time for fun.
Focusing on my family is going to be fun. We are going to Arizona later this month. Ready to make some memories. We have family memberships to the Minnesota Zoo and Children’s Museum. And I plan to use those many times. I want to plan fun family dates. I know the kids might not remember much at their ages, but I will. So I guess this goes along with focusing on myself, too.
And finally, focus on blogging. I went so long between posts so many times last year. And I hated it! I love writing down my life, thoughts, adventures, misadventures. So I plan on posting twice per week to start. I hope to meet more fun bloggers at events. I want to make it to more Instameet events. I want to do all the things this year!!
How about you? Do you have a word for the year??
