It all started in late November. Nearing the end of the “fearless” year. I was trying to come up with something big to end the year with. I had been so successful living my one little word, I wanted to end the year with a bang.
I came up with the ultimate bang. A boudoir photo shoot.
Yeah. I know. Scary. But I thought, now or never.
But we didn’t really have the extra money to book a session. So it looked like never.
Fast forward to February. An opportunity popped up for Minnesota Bloggers. Pixies Photography was offering a mini photo shoot in return for posts on social media throughout the process and a blog post (THIS IS IT) telling you all the nitty-gritty details. Umm, yeah I can totally do that. I was in.
The afternoon of the shoot I got really nervous. What if I looked bad? What if they judged my non-model body? What if I don’t have any fun? What if there’s no alcohol?? Real panic, guys.
When I walked into Pixie’s studio, I felt at ease. The sitting area was so cute. Big comfy seats, cure accessories, pictures on the wall of past clients. And that was the part that made me most comfortable. The women on the wall were all different shapes and sizes. And they all looked gorgeous. Plus, wine. I was put at ease.
There were five bloggers doing photos that night. Which sounds totally uncomfortable and weird. But it was the exact opposite. Along with Stephanie and Kelly (The Pixies) we were all having so much fun. Helping decide what to wear, what makeup to use and the most important part: shoes.
Getting hair and make up done was so fun! I got to wear fake eyelashes for the first time! Super weird, but looked great. By the end, I felt so damn sexy.
When you are at the studio, you will see a few different rooms with different props and set-ups to choose from. We had two different backdrop choices, but when I go back I can’t wait to be in some of the other spaces.
Not only do they have that amazing shoe wall, but they have a ton of other items to doll yourself up with. Jewelry, robes, boas, drawers and drawers of cute bras, and of course shoes.
You can take the girl out of the shoe store but…
I also decided that when I win the lottery, I am hiring hair and makeup for every time I leave the house. I hate doing it, but like the end result.
While taking pictures, The Pixies help pose you in the most ridiculous feeling positions. But the end result looks so sexy and natural. I really don’t know how they do it. Magic, probably.
I really can’t tell you how awesome this whole experience was. Besides boudoir shoots, The Pixies also do vintage Hollywood, pin-up shoots, and bachelorette party shoots. So many fun choices!
And for you, my lovely readers, they are offering an insane special price.
